My 30th Bday or as Swati says "THREE-OH" :)

A milestone birthday celebrated as a milestone :). A day made really special by a very special person, my dear loving wife.

Like every year, things started cooking as soon as beginning of July. Special treatment and special food of course :).

From what I could gather, I came to know that probably messages are being collected from friends and family. Also, in due course of time, I realized that probably a surprise party was cooking, out of home, for a change. I, for a change, did not pry around beyond that, lest it would spoil my own bag of surprises :).

On 20th midnight, things started coming out. The usual cake and the balloons and then a VERY VERY SPECIAL gift. A scrapbook with messages, warm wishes and bittersweet memories from the yesteryears. My life, from when I remember, flashed in front of my eyes. There are a few very emotional messages, which shook me and I shed a tear or two, after a really long time.

It was overwhelming and heartwarming to read all those long, short, praising, encouraging, fun-filled and sentimental messages, from all people close to my heart, sometimes giving out minute details of how I was in my childhood and some telling me what I have been as a more mature human being. Few other messages were to let me know, what is coming and how I should be taking it :). Wholly, it is a treasure chest and will be a very prized and precious possession for a long time to come.

I couldn't thank swati beyond words and a few kisses to express how I was feeling and how much her effort and the enthusiasm meant to me. She's gone a step ahead each time surpassing the limits I set for her. I love you baby, for being what you are!

We slept peacefully, or rather I slept peacefully, coz Swati , as she later confessed, did not get sleep thinking about the next day.

I got up and got ready and left for my usual Saturday Golf lesson. Surprisingly, till 11 in the morning, not many called. I attributed it to the fact that the wishes already reached and it was my turn to thank back :). But turned out, swati had instructed everybody to call only after that :P. Anyway, I finished my golf lesson and got myself mentally prepared for a burst of surprise as I reached home. Before that I spoke to both set of parents and seeked their blessings on this very special day.

I came home and I saw an unseen sandal, coat and purse of a girl. Although, I was expecting many people rather than only one, my mind raced to think about who it would be. Apart from this, the hall was decorated, there was a makeshift party floor on the carpet, balloons on the ceiling and all walls were flanked with posters on 30th Birthday ! For the first time, it dawned on me that the party was gonna be at home :).

I came in slowly and saw what I had never expected. seeing Sheila standing there, was a big blow for me :). It was a really great surpise and I couldn't thank her enough for being there (I mean she was due to come over sometime, but she timed it too well :)).

Well, swati now got company and the girls kept making stuff up and confusing me till the evening, about whats was about to happen. In between, We had lunch and even dozed off for sometime. When I got up, there was another surprise waiting for me.

There were 30 cup-cakes, all decorated by Swati and arranged methodically on a beautiful stand. It elated me, although I am not very fond of cakes, but this was special, really SPECIAL !

After a round of coffee, I was told to get changed, so we could plan to go out somewhere. By this time, I had got Swati into confessing a few things about what the plan was, since I had to arrange logistics for the guests parking etc :). Even the girls got ready and started waiting. This was the time when my friends from US(Sam/Vijeta, Sanjay/Arpita, Manish/Adyasha, Humera) and India(Manas, Shyamu, Masi, Musa, Aan, Mamiji, Gattu/Arpita, Ruchi/Ritesh, Babu/Avatar) called.

Slowly, the air was getting clearer. Waquar and family and Vineet and family arrived. Waquar was wearing colorful hair, but it didnt suggest anything. Then, Sandeep and Arunima arrived and still I didnt get anything. And then came the biggest surprise of the day ! It was going to be a Hippy Theme party ! There was a accessory bag for me :) After my initial resistance, I was dressed up.

Joydeep and Sudipta and then Daya and family, all arrived. I had kind of guessed they would come. Then came Dantesh, Joseph and Prachi and Vivek, which was again a surprise for me, since I didnt expect them. Hemant and Aarti also came in. All people were dressed, not as much as me, but yes :).

We started off and it was too much fun. We had cakes, shots(tequilla/coke), and then music, dance, dressing up, photographs.

There was an introduction round for all people to get to know each other and how they knew me ! Then we played TWISTER, another interesting Party game. It was nice fun-filled party. Dinner was well arranged and food was awesome. Thanks Daya for getting it over along with him.

People had dinner and slowly started leaving, after showering me with gifts. It was after a long time I got soo many gifts.

8 of us were left and we opened Champagne to celebrate the last hour. Then all left and even me and Swati got to bed. Swati opened all secrets of her planning and execution in these last few weeks. We saw the gifts and said good night.

The next morning, Sheila was a bit hung over and we had breakfast and showed her around, had wholesome lunch with Biriyani from the previous day and dropped her to Station in the afternoon. We then returned things to Vineet and Liesha. Swati later told me Liesha played an important role in my B'day preperations.

We lazed around most of it and spoke to parents and gattu, and said goodbye to a gala weekend :). I love you my lady, for being there and loving me so much. I really want to thank you for making my day so special and doing it beyond the call of duty of the wife and the love of a sweetheart :). I will cherish this milestone b'day for a long time, unless of course, you break your own record to give me bigger surprises :).

Love - Harry
